I really don't care what the...No, not frustrating. I really don't care what the culture, or the mob (the hoi polloi kind, not the Italian one) thinks is the flavour of the month. I would expect it is more frustrating for the person tickling me, and not getting a reaction. I just watch with detached curiosity.

If you look at the demographics details of the user rating for NP, women rated it higher than men (7.4 vs 7.0) highest raters: Females aged 18-29 7.5, lowest raters: Males aged 45+ 6.6 (me). Most votes (13486 out of 30738, or 44%) from Males aged 18-29.

Interesting. The people that have made the most number of votes on IMDB, (Top 1000 voters) liked it the least, 6.2.

JM got more votes than NP, 40645 vs 30738 , and a slightly better rating, 7.2 vs 7.0. The ratings curve for JM is more "normal". A some people (12.5%) really liked it (10), most people (25.5%+23.2%) thought it was better than average (8,7), a few people (2.1%) hated it (1).

Me? I never have been a big fan of Cruise, and now even less so. The film, I thought was ok. Better than average, 6, or 7ish, but not great. I would say essentially the same things for NP.

Neither film is in the IMDB Top 250. A min rating of 7.8 is needed.Amos_thePokerCathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05600716336783039297noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7480995.post-1143295217732320392006-03-25T09:00:00.000-05:002006-03-25T09:00:00.000-05:00I thought it was very funny. But I understand how ...I thought it was very funny. But I understand how frustrating it can be to not like a movie that the rest of the culture has deemed a masterpiece.

Take, for example, "Jerry Maguire." How that got nominated for Best Picture is beyond me. And don't tell me it was a chick flick--I have no problem acknowledging that a chick flick is good. Good movies are good movies, period.Jonathan Pottshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18433924194960127561noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7480995.post-1143266481948285022006-03-25T01:01:00.000-05:002006-03-25T01:01:00.000-05:00Scary.Obviously in order to get the comparison, I ...Scary.

Obviously in order to get the comparison, I have had to see the movie, "Napoleon Dynamite". (on DVD) I understand it was trying to be funny. I know some people think it was the funniest picture of all time. It was like somebody was trying to tickle me, but I just was not ticklish.

I have not really looked at a lot of IMDB rating histograms. SO I do not know if this is typical or not.
User Ratings for Napoleon Dynamite
28.6% gave it a 10, 9.0% gave it a 1. 30658 votes. While there might be people that have multiple IMDB IDs, for the most part, these are individual votes.Amos_thePokerCathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05600716336783039297noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7480995.post-1143222260585295122006-03-24T12:44:00.000-05:002006-03-24T12:44:00.000-05:00oh god! yes, he does.oh god! yes, he does.Sherry Pasquarellohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06107407102753464356noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7480995.post-1143168457014583082006-03-23T21:47:00.000-05:002006-03-23T21:47:00.000-05:00That is friggin' sweet! That is friggin' sweet!Ohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09964176088555341629noreply@blogger.com
