Volunteers wanted

AntiRust wants the Penguins to leave town, because it seems the only way they will stay is if they can fleece taxpayers for a new arena. I'll do him one better. I'll volunteer to help them pack. I'll even organize the moving party. Anyone who wants to help out, please leave your name in the comments. I'm sure the team would be willing to spring for beer and pizza.

I just hope they don't have anything really heavy.

I can drive a stick-shift, if that helps.

Will they take the Pirates and US Airways with them?

I'll volunteer if we can get them to MOVE off of the Lower Hill District and into a venue in Allegheny County.

I don't want to see them move to Kansas.

But, I'd be happy if they played 10 games each season in Kansas until a new venue was built -- say along a river and near a highway out by the airport.

So, I'm with you -- mostly.

The Don Barden money could then be used to do the Bob O'Connor street car from edge of downtown to Oak Hill and edge of Oakland. And a bit can be used to get the land the Pens got back into the private sector too.

You know, I'm such a big old hockey fan, I can't volunteer until the die's cast. But if the Pens won't take "The Best Deal in the History of Western Civilization," you can be sure I'll be there to help them pack and make sure they merge onto I-279 South safely.

maybe my geography is skewed...but where can you find a location that is:

a. along a river
b. near a highway
c. out near the airport

seriously. is that sewickley? robinson town center? where? if this proposal was tossed out there by a politician, we'd all be laughing our asses off. it's not possible.
